Igor

Cert: PG

Description: Igor harks from a long line of hunchbacked servants, who must do the bidding of crazed inventors in the land of Malaria. Alas, Igor's evil scientist, Dr Glickenstein, is somewhat lacking in talent - his inventions rarely work and as an underling, Igor is unable to point out the mistakes in the doctor's plans. When fate contrives to thrust Igor into the spotlight, he does the unthinkable and creates life. Unfortunately, the monster, Eva, isn't evil at all and through an error at the brainwashing plant, she believes that she is an actress destined to audition for the role of musical heroine Annie.

Quite who is the target audience for Tony Leondis's animated feature is a puzzle. But the story of a land where evil scientists rule hunchback serfs is intriguingly grotesque and animated with skill.

Igor is one of the serfs, an unlikely inventor hoping to change everything. There is the usual cast of star voices, including John Cusack as Igor, Steve Buscemi, John Cleese and Eddie Izzard. But young children might find it a bit difficult to understand and adults too easy.
