Accident: a classically shot drama

By Derek Malcolm, Evening Standard  05.06.09

Accident

Dirk Bogarde and Michael York star in Accident

The turmoil of an Oxford summer after an undergraduate dies seemed an unlikely subject for American émigré director Joseph Losey.

But the screenplay was by Harold Pinter and the cast includes Dirk Bogarde, Vivian Merchant (then Pinter’s wife), and Michael York.

The result was a drama of stifled live, classically shot so that a veneer of high-flown civilisation obtains throughout.
