Land of the Lost
Leading role: Will Ferrell plays Dr Rick Marshall

Will Ferrell is an acquired taste — and so was the tacky Seventies TV serial upon which his latest vehicle is based.

Ferrell plays Dr Rick Marshall, a “quantum palaeontologist” whose crackpot theories lead him and a British scientist (Anna Friel) into a twilight zone where there are dinosaurs around every corner.

Not that Ferrell shows much terror — he keeps a straight face whatever happens. That’s part of his appeal.

Unfortunately the audience may do the same as an ape rummages in Friel’s top in search of her boobs.

It’s not clear whether the director, Brad Silberling, is camping it up or simply trying to get through it all without too much strain.
