The Ugly Truth is predicatable

By Derek Malcolm, Evening Standard  07.08.09

The Ugly Truth

Romantic comedy: The Ugly Truth

The ugly truth about this insipid romcom is that Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler are entirely wasted.

She plays a talk-show producer who can’t find a male friend (which is ludicrous in itself, given her looks); he is a shock jock who tells women what makes men really tick.

They don’t get on at all but, of course, eventually fall in love.

They deserve each other —but no actor deserves this slack script and amorphous direction.
