In this Europudding, we are asked to marvel at the rise and rise (and untimely fall) of real-life German flying ace and First World War hero Manfred von Richthofen (Matthias Schweighofer).
It’s one of those democratic films where everyone struggles to produce a convincing accent.
The Germans yammer in English. Lena Headey plays a French nurse. Joseph Fiennes pops up as a Canadian.
Yes, it’s unspeakably bad. But thanks to the nifty, CGI-enhanced air battles and handsomeness of the cast, the time flies.
