Shank is clunky and contrived

Shank

Coming of age drama: Shank

The director of Shank is 21 but he’s an old-timer compared with most of the cast (many of them untrained).

His desire to make us understand “gay bashing” among Bristol teens is worthy but the end result is clunky and contrived.
