Je Veux Voir has some mesmerising moments
18 Sep 2009
Catherine Deneuve’s puckered face dominates this simple, no-budget drama.
She’s playing herself — an actress who wants to see what’s left of South Lebanon after the 2006 war — and the result is a profound, knowing piece of anti-Israeli propaganda.
The scenes by the sea (we watch as huge machines crush and then bury Lebanese towns) are mesmerising.
