Bovine gags in horrendous The Goods

By Derek Malcolm, Evening Standard  23.10.09

The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard

Gross-out comedy: The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard

With a halfway decent screenplay and a director who is not Neal Brennan, this gross-out comedy might have worked.

Alas, the actual result is horrendous.

Jeremy Piven is a wannabe rock star in the second-hand car business who is taken on by a down-at-heel car lot owner (James Brolin).

Ving Rhames, David Koechner, Babs Merrick and Charles Napier are also in the cast.

They look as if they could provide more laughs but are defeated by bovine gags retrieved from a trashcan full of out-takes.
