Description: A documentary which pays tribute to a true visionary of the digital world. In 1993, Josh Harris formed Pseudo Programs and was one of the first people to introduce online multi-player gaming. He channelled his energies into an online television network and then created an online art project called Quiet which took the Big Brother model to the extreme by inviting 100 volunteers to live under continual surveillance in a bunker in Manhattan.

We Live In Public
Extraordinary: Josh Harris and his girlfriend posted their life on the internet, minute-by-minute

By Derek Malcolm

If you want to know how we arrived at Facebook and Twitter, take a look at Ondi Timoner’s extraordinary documentary about the eccentric dotcom millionaire Josh Harris, who conducted two weird experiments.

One was called Quiet, in which he and some of his workmates lived for a year under 24-hour surveillance.

The other was weliveinpublic.com, in which he and his girlfriend posted their life on the internet, minute-by-minute.

Not surprisingly, Harris had a breakdown and lost all his money.

He now lives ascetically in Ethiopia. Tell that to Stephen Fry.
