Alex Jennings stars as the Prince of Wales and Michael Sheen as Prime Minister Tony Blair in Stephen Frears latest film The Queen.

Helen Mirren takes the title role alongside James Cromwell as Prince Philip
in the drama that focuses on the seven days following the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.

Mirren studied hours of television footage in order to deliver an effective imitation of the monarchs self-controlled features.

The actress had to age herself 10 years in order to play the Queen who was struggling with overnight vilification in the media.

Sylvia Syms appears in the role of the frail but supportive Queen Mother.

The film tries to show the human side of the head of the royal family as she comes to terms with her daughter-in-laws death.

The drama plays out mainly at Balmoral, the Queens Scottish retreat, as the Royals withdraw from the national outpouring of grief.
