The Arctic Monkeys have won the coveted Mercury Prize for their album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not.

Muse were proud to show off their Mercury nominee award for their album Black Holes and Revelations.

Radio 1s Jo Whiley was on hand to present the Arctic Monkeys with their £20,000 prize.

Hot Chip performed live at the ceremony alongside Thom Yorke, Scritti Politti and the Guillemots after being nominated for their album The Warning.

It was all black and white on the night for nominees the Guillemots as they turned up for their live performance.

It looked like a black bin liner had inspired Radio 1 presenter Edith Bowmans choice of outfit on the night.

A striking leopard print top ensured Isobel Campbell was spotted by the press as she posed with her nominee award for Ballad of the Broken Seas.
