Don't mime if I do

London International Mime Festival
12-27 January
Various venues, www.mimefest.co.uk

The 30th London International Mime Festival returns to the capital this month.

Featuring some of the leading names in physical comedy, the festival offers two weeks of barrier-busting performances.

Highlights include a first UK appearance by French circus-theatre talents Collectif Petit Travers and O Ultimo Momento, as well as the unnerving Astronomy For Insects from Russian outfit BlackSkyWhite.

Britain's best known mime/clown Nola Rae brings her latest show, which explores the life of Mozart, to the Southbank Centre from 21-23 January.

Award-winning Gecko perform their The Arab & The Jew, taking a look at two men raised on opposite sides of the Arab-Israeli divide, at the Lyric Hammersmith Studio from 18 January.

Miquel Barcelo and Josef Nadj disappear underneath ten tons of potter's clay during their four night run at the Barbican Theatre.

There are also workshops, post-show discussions and lectures taking place throughout the festival.
