Laugh or the Polar Bear Gets It

A star-studded Friends of the Earth fundraiser offers masterful songsmith Tim Minchin, effervescent yarn-spinner Russell Howard, comedy colossus Greg Davies, plus Francesca Martinez, Dan Antopolski, Richard Herring, Lucy Porter and music from Badly Drawn Boy.
Tonight, Hammersmith Apollo, W6 (08448 444 748, ticketmaster.co.uk)

Richard Herring
Every year Richard Herring creates an intriguing new show about a subject that is dear to his heart and this one, What Is Love, Anyway? explores the nature of passion, with our hero wondering if love is more or less rational than religious belief. As ever with Herring, there's lots going on, at times puerile, at times poignant, at times a combination of both.
Until tomorrow, Soho Theatre, W1 (020 7478 0100, sohotheatre.com

Reginald D Hunter
This charismatic UK-based American is always thought-provoking on matters from sexual equality to racism, but he never forgets to be very funny too. Reports from his UK tour suggest it is Hunter's most finely tuned set yet - controversial and challenging, never dull.
Tomorrow, Fairfield Halls, Croydon (0208 688 9291, fairfield.co.uk)
