Making kids laugh

Imagine Children's Literature Festival

14-22 February, Southbank Centre, each event £7 (adults), £4.50 (children), £19 (family ticket), 08703 800 400

The Imagine Childrens Literature Festival has adopted a comedy theme this year with joke-telling and live comedy shows among an entertaining programme.

A host of famous faces will be appearing at the Southbank during the festival, including Children's Poet Laureate, Michael Rosen, and comedian John Hegley, who brings his Crowd of Creatures show to audiences.

Among the more bizarre sounding events will be the Animal Olympics, where Francesca Beard introduces children to each character from the Chinese Horoscope before bringing rat, rooster, dragon and rabbit together for a special Olympic event.

Quite how the Olympics bit is achieved, you'll have to turn up and find out.

Events run until 22 February. Further information can be found at www.southbankcentre.co.uk/festivals-series/imagine
