Mathew Bourne to stage Oscar Wilde show

Matthew Bourne's Dorian Gray
2-14 September
Sadler's Wells, EC1
0844 412 4300, www.sadlerswells.com
£10-£60

One of the few choreographers famous enough to take billing over the actual show, Matthew Bourne returns this summer with his take on Oscar Wilde's dark story.

Bourne's version of Dorian Gray, hopefully a bit less rude than Will Self's recent rewrite of the novel, will premiere at the Edinburgh Festival this summer, before settling in for an initial two-week run at Sadler's Wells.

Having reimagined Swan Lake with an all-male cast and turned Edward Scissorhands into a ballet to huge acclaim, Bourne has a near flawless record of combining ballet with dark themes and mass appeal. This is sure to be one of the hot tickets of the year.
