Watch the X Folkter live in Farringdon
09 December 2011
The folksy parody of The X Factor is raising money for Rhythmix (rhythmixmusic.org.uk), a music charity that recently won a legal battle with Simon Cowell to keep its name.
There are four fabulous acts on show (and a conspicuous lack of woe-is-me backstories), with the winner being decided through the age-old device of a clap-o-meter.
Fresh from selling out the Borderline, We Were Evergreen (www.wewereevergreen.com) are headlining. Blending English folk melodies, with samba rhythms - despite hailing from France - this may be the last time to see the trio in such intimate surroundings.
Also on the bill is Ruth Theodore (www.ruththeodore.com), whose debut, White Holes of Mole Hills, received this four-star review from The Guardian: "Songs so quirky and unexpected that it's hard to imagine anyone else singing them."
The X Folkter @ The Betsey (www.thebetsey.com)
Starts at 7.30pm. £5 entry. All money goes to charity.
Incredibly high (tweed) trousers an optional extra.
