Barchick: MEATliquor - Pubs and Bars - Going Out - Evening Standard

Barchick: MEATliquor

Take: Anyone who likes American dive-bar style.

Vibe: This is primarily a burger joint but it's also a seriously cool hangout above a strip club with red neon lighting and blood-splattered walls. It's wicked, and the music rocks.

Drink: The Full English Martini made with Bombay Sapphire gin and pickled egg in bacon powder if you're experimental, Cyder Car for a West Country twist on a classic, or the Sazarac, which comes in a jam jar with a hand-cut rock of ice. They're all gentle and lunchtime-friendly, unless you hit the caged liquors behind the bar prematurely, of course, which is when you should try the amazing burgers and the coconut cream pie.

Cash or credit card: Cash. Burgers and cocktails at £7.

Find it: Tuesday-Saturday from midday, with a no-drinking-without-eating policy. 74 Welbeck Street, W1 (@MEATliquor).
