Camino
(3 Varnishers Yard, Pentonville Road, N1, 020 7841 7331, barcamino.com)
Leading the way for superior cider is Camino, the superb bar and restaurant open until 1am. One of the most enticing drinks on its extensive menu is Zythos Sidra Natural, a small-scale cider from Asturias, northern Spain's apple-growing region. Order it by the bottle (£9.50 for 700ml) or the glass (£2.90), and it's best paired with the smoked Asturias chorizo (£4.25 per plate).
Chimes
(26 Churton Street, SW1, 020 7821 7456)
Chimes is a colourful British restaurant that doubles as a shrine to cider and perry. Pair your pork chops (£10.75) with glasses of Old Rosie, Stowford Press, Kent's Bibbenden Extra Dry or the house cider, all of which are on draught from £1.55 for half a pint or £6.20 for a twopint jug.
The Dartmouth Arms
(35 York Rise, NW5, 020 7485 3267, dartmoutharms.co.uk)
Posh cider is big with gastropub-goers, too. The Dartmouth Arms has more than a dozen bottled boutique ciders as well as draught on rotation at the bar. The fresh lobster served with a bottle of Dunkertons' organic perry is on promotion at £15 until the end of the month.
The Alwyne
(83 St Paul's Road, N1, 020 7288 9861)
The cider to try here is Aspall's, sold in bottles for £3.50, with the blush variety - that comes ready mixed with blackcurrant liqueur - for £3.75. Weston's Perry in two-litre bottles is £6.50.
