Shame Greyhound isn't busier

Whilst the recent refurb at the Princess Victoria took the freesheets by storm, the Greyhound - just 60 seconds walk away - has quietly renovated itself too. From our perspective it would be a dereliction of duty not to give as much time to the little back-street places as the gastro behemoths. Sadly not everyone feels this way, as it was entirely empty on our Monday night visit. Mondays are often bad for trade, but this is a local's pub, worryingly devoid of locals.
Reports have it that pre-refurb it was a rough and ready place, but also quite lively. It's possible that some of the old regulars - many of whom would be from the surrounding council blocks - have now abandoned it. This is a shame, because what they have is a perfectly decent pub. Very attractive from the outside, there's an unfussy but comfortable interior. You'll find a pretty a back garden for the sunnier days and an attempt to provide an ale too (even if it was off on our visit). We'll return again at a different time of the week (perhaps for the live Friday night music) to see if we can award a better rating.
