Tap East, Stratford - review

Pubs in shopping ventres often suffer for the transince of their clientele, but Tap East is working to provide a good experience. Right next to the new Stratford International train station, it's still more than your average station pub. It's early days yet, but the modest premises is promising expansion soon with an on-site brewery currently being set up.
Once in place, at least two beers on the bar will be made on the premises. Run by Uttobeer in Borough, the real ale on the pumps was mostly from the Otley brewery (Pontypridd), with Brecon's Bright Beacon another option. On our last visit, Otley's O-garden was very refreshing.
There's also a good selection of bottles ales in the fridges, including three from Longmont's Left Hand Brewery (Colorado, USA) which we got to try at the last Great British Beer Festival. The staff are friendly, and still learning their beers, hardly surprising as it's only been open a few days. The interior is eclectic/gastro/modern with mis-matched stools and butcherblock tables, but hey, it's a new build not a historic pub. And if you weren't hungry when you went in, the smells from the nearby food court may prompt you to eat. We'll be back to try their beer.
