The Marylebone may be average but it is popular with punters

The Marylebone is now no longer the somewhat eccentric Tup that used reside here - it's been refurbished and now it blends in perfectly with its surroundings. Dark exterior, dark interior, subdued lighting, tall tables with pony-skin-clad stools and a dark wood bar - it's pretty familiar stuff nowadays. On the drinks front the sole hand pump wasn't in action so we didn't have the opportunity to try the Marylebone's cellar-keeping skills and there's a pretty standard range of lagers and beers on the plentiful taps. The wine list is also pretty much-of-a-muchness and the fridges contain very few surprises. The pub does open for breakfast but on the time we tried it, we found it amounted to croissants and pre-filled baguettes - a little disappointing, we feel, and it seems other people may also feel the same as we were the only ones in. Evenings are another matter though and you'll find a pretty lively crowd in here towards the end of the week, so much so, it's sometimes difficult to get in. The Marylebone might be, in our book, a rather average place, but it seems to push the buttons for punters round here - we guess we'll be leaving them to it.
