The Seven Stars, Holborn - review

The Seven Stars is an ancient, tiny pub that's a great place for a pint when it's not packed - to do this you need to avoid lunch times and early evenings - or during the summer recess.
It's a charming and olde worlde pub and would be just the thing for the tourists if it wasn't already packed with people from the surrounding law courts.
The excellent selection of well-kept ale on the hand pumps, largely from the Dark Star Sussex brewery when we were in last, decent pub grub and friendly service make this one well worth a visit if you're in the area. Watch out for the precipitous stairs to the toilets (especially when you've had a few) and for the resident pub cat Tom Paine - once seen sporting a white ruff.
Oh, and it's also one of the few pubs in the square mile that you'll find open seven days a week.
