Critic's choice: top five club nights

Turnmills gets back to the old days, there's a spectacular hip-hop mash-up at Herbal, trip-hop at cool Kilburn party pub The Westbury, and a massive knees-up at the Spice House this weekend.

The Gallery
Turnmills, EC1
Ah, it's just like the old days at Turnmills tonight. You know, the days when DJs played real records fashioned from vinyl? Big, longstanding names deliver big tunes with Tall Paul and Dave Seaman taking the top spots. There's trance and progressive house from Matthew Dekay and Kuffdam, plus a set from the master of bleep, King Unique.
(020 7250 3409). Friday, 10.30pm-7.30am.

Doctors Orders 2nd Birthday
Herbal, E2
A spectacular hip-hop mash-up takes place to celebrate two years of Doctors Orders. DJ Spin Doctor presides with guest DJs including Mr Thing and DJ Vadim. Guest rappers include Stig & Dr Syntax at this double-floored rap fest.
(020 7613 4462). Tonight, 11pm-6am.

DJ Vadim
The Westbury, NW6
This cool Kilburn party pub welcomes trip-hop pioneer DJ Vadim as well as fellow member of the Ninjatune camp, Bonobo. Capstone completes a line-up of experimental, but booty-shakeable, electronica.
(020 7625 7500). Tonight, 9pm-2am.

Guilty Pleasures presents Hot Summer Nights
The Spice House, E8
The GP brand continues to thrive with a massive knees-up at the former Ocean Club, the opening event of the three-week Spice Festival. As well as the usual high-spirited disco mayhem and a roller disco, there's also a guilty cinema showing kitsch but enjoyable flicks such as Rollerball and Boogie Nights.
(020 8985 2424). Sat, 8.30pm-2am.

Superfreq
The End, WC1
Mr C lets rip in his own club, helped out by Dollz At Play at this rowdy night of techno, electro and house. Tonight's special guest is Patrick Bodmer, better known as one half of highly regarded electro-pop production and DJ duo M.A.N.D.Y.
(020 7419 9199). Sun, 10pm-6am.
