Island hopping in N1

Safely moored away from the fierce currents of Upper Street, the Island Queen is ship shape for customers once again after a tasteful refurbishment.
The watering hole, built in 1885, takes its name from a nineteenth century English boat. Have too many and the floor still sways!
Drinkers are greeted with a splendid multi-windowed Victorian frontage, a high-ceiling interior, horseshoe-shaped mahogany bar and dark wood tables set against rich burgundy walls.
Retro chandeliers, soft spotlights and chunky candles bring to life the pub's wonderful features, including the burnt orange ornate ceiling design and large art deco mirrors.
An upstairs lounge area - past the pink neon lights - with sofas and armchairs can accommodate up to 70 people for parties.
The downstairs bar serves a wide selection of speciality beers and cask ales, including Belgian favourites such as Leffe and Hoegaarden, as well as new and old world wines.
Food is served everyday and the menu includes hand cut wedges with sautéed mushroom and stilton, mussels steamed in white wine and parsley with ciabatta, plus more traditional dishes such as steak & ale pie and Sunday roast.
