This exclusive little pub tucked down a Mayfair mews is of astonishing antiquity, dating back to 1423 when all around here was fields. The bar is small, dark and richly accoutred and gets packed at lunchtimes with folk vying for a spot near the fireplace. It's a Young's pub, with the finest of Young's ales. Its steak & kidney pies have won many a national competition, and its sandwiches have won the approval of Frank Sinatra, Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone. But they really came for the steaks, which are laid out before you to choose and grilled in front of your very eyes.
