If your new film - the one where a beautiful American businesswoman meets a tongue-tied but cute Brit aristo ... you know the kind of thing - needed an authentic 1970s veggie restaurant for a crucial hand-holding scene, Manna would fit the bill perfectly.

This time-warp sometimes extends to the service, so don't pitch up here in a hurry, or without a serious appetite - there is no whimsy about the portions here.

The cooking is very sound, and if there is such a thing as a peculiarly 'veggie' charm, this place has plenty.

And there's even a menu code (v) = vegan dishes; (vo) = vegan option; (org) = organic dish; (n) = contains nuts; and (g) = gluten free.

You can order a selection of any three salads or starters as the 'Manna meze', which is a pretty good option given the huge portions.

The menu changes regularly, but may include starters such as organic Gorgonzola pizzette with red onion confit and walnuts, or a tortilla tower - spinach, red pepper and potato omelettes layered with smoked Cheddar.

Or how about potato bondas stuffed with pink chilli coconut chutney? Salads are complex - grapefruit and avocado, green pea shoots, watercress and baby mustard leaves, or perhaps organic warm white bean salad with sage oil and crisp sourdough.

Mains are an eclectic bunch: whiskey barbecue marinated tofu on roast-garlic mash, or Majorcan baked aubergine stuffed with onions and topped with Romanesco sauce.

Puds are serious: organic chocolate ooze pudding and organic fruit crumble are a challenge to all but the stoutest appetites.
