Where to eat Polish

They may boast unfashionable decor, and charm rather than finesse, but Daquise, Ognisko Polskie and the Polish White Eagle Club do the Polish business.

Daquise
20 Thurloe Street, SW7

This is a calm, old-time restaurant where the resolutely Polish dishes are perfectly in tune with the unfashionable decor. Something of a South Ken institution and usually under the threat of closure and redevelopment.
£18pp ex-drinks (020 7589 6117)

Ognisko Polskie
55 Exhibition Road, Prince's Gate, SW7
Translates as "Polish Hearth Club" and occupies a large and elegant Kensington mansion, providing a bar and refuge for ex-pat Poles. The food is sound and there's a delightful hidden garden.
£15pp ex-drinks (020 7589 4635)

Polish White Eagle Club
211 Balham High Road, SW17

A restaurant that relies on charm rather than finesse. Basic Polish dishes. Eclectic, possibly garish, decor. Busty bar stocked with an excellent array of different Polish beers.
£12pp ex-drinks (020 8672 1723)
