Vampire chic is all the rage at the moment and some of it seems to have rubbed off on Gossip Girls Taylor Momsen and Leighton Meester, who last week were both out on the events circuit (fittingly, Taylor was at a New Moon screening) with Gothic blood-red lips and smoky eyes.
It's a look that was seen on the AW 09 catwalks for Paul Costelloe and Versace. Ruby Hammer, of Ruby & Millie, advises: "For the eyes, use a dark grey pencil (Ruby & Millie Eyeliner in Grey, £9.50 from Boots) to line all around the eyes - fairly bold on the upper lid - and smudge under the eye with a cotton bud.
For the shadow use a light-to-dark grey palette from Christian Dior (5 Coleurs Designer in Smoky Design, £37, 020 7216 0216, www.dior.com).
Use the lightest colour on the lid as a base and build up with the darker greys in the crease; add YSL Everlong Mascara (£21 from Selfridges, 020 7318 1358). On the lips use YSL Rouge Volupté lipstick in Rose Culte (£20), straight from the bullet."
