06 May 2010
An award winning neighbourhood restaurant and bar in the heart of leafy Chiswick; spearheaded and run by Sam Harrison and co-owned by Rick Stein and Rebecca Mascarenhas. On the menu are classic dishes with subtle modern European influences. Much of the ingredients are sourced from the local area.
Hot Dishes
Artichoke, olive and sun blushed tomato risotto makes a great starter. Oysters and mussels are also worth trying. For main course, a generous sea bass fillet served with couscous salad and fennel salsa is a must if you are in the mood for fish. For pudding give the caramel parfait ago. All dishes are beautifully prepared and there is no compromising on flavour.
Drink Up
There is an impressive wine selection with around 70 choices, each one tasted and selected by Sam. With his meticulous approach he has selected a range of good value options. The spacious oak front/zinc-topped bar is the perfect place to enjoy a pre meal drink.
Ambience
There is a real buzz at this, informal, all-day neighbourhood restaurant and bar. Converted from a former paper factory into a 100-seat brasserie and an inviting 55-seat bar, its smart/casual design sets the tone.
Where to find it
Just off Chiswick High Street. If you are paying Sam's a visit do take advantage of the lovely boutiques and shopping facilities in the surrounding area. Or enjoy a pleasant stroll on the Green.
Cheque Out
Expect to pay around £35 per head for a three course meal with a drink. Or take advantage of the Early Bird Dinner set menu. Orders must be placed before 7.30pm with two courses for £15 or three for £18.
