09 July 2010
New places, revolutionary experiences... brought to you by Courvoisier.
Notting Hill Carnival after-parties – August 29/30
Feathers and floats are all very well, but where to shake it after? Seconds from the Carnival route, Paradise by Way of Kensal Green has a heavenly weekend line-up with Adam Freeland, Krafty Kuts and The Nextmen on Sunday and Fakeblood, Count & Sinden and The Mystery Jets on Monday (book Tuesday off work). Meanwhile, over at Kentish Town Forum on Sunday, ETA touch down with Stanton Warriors and Riva Star.
Paradise: 12pm – 3am, £15 Sunday, £5 Monday (theparadise.co.uk); ETA: 7pm – 5am, £20 adv, £25 on door (estimatedtimeofarrival.com)
Rock n Roll Circus – August 29
Appropriately for this, the final Mix It Up column, it's the biggest party weekend of the year. So no staying in please - even if you're wallet-watching. Roll up to Camden's Blues Kitchen for eleven hours of fabulous free fun, with fire eaters, freaks, contortionists and go-go dancers, plus music from ringmasters Little Barrie, Kill It Kid and The Fabulous Penetrators. Magic.
4pm – 3am, FREE (theblueskitchen.com)
Rat Pack All-Dayer - August 29
To smack the living daylights out of summer's last bank holiday, the River Rat Pack drop anchor in Islington for an epic Old Queen's Head all-dayer. Treat your ears to twelve hours of live bands including headliners Man Like Me, fresh from the festival stages, King Charles (amazing songs, amazing hair) and SixNationState. Decks-hands will be Is Tropical and Harry James.
3pm - 3am, Free before 8pm, £4 after (theoldqueenshead.com)
