Men's fake eyelashes
Eye-grooms: more men want lashes

Futurology: Lashes for the lads

Girls have been wearing them for years but - shock horror - at the Shu Uemura and Blink lash bars in Selfridges, unexpected numbers of men are queuing up asking for tips on how to emphasise their eyes and splashing out on false eyelashes.

It all started when The Japan Times, from the late Shu Uemura's home city of Tokyo, reported last month that there were more gents than girls at their "Eyelash Night" party.

David Walker-Smith, beauty and menswear director at Selfridges, says: "We first noticed this increased interest in male eye-grooming when the new Blink bar was bombarded by men. Brands such as Shu Uemura offer more natural-looking lashes, which enhance the eyes."

Recently launched Blink & Go bar at Harrods has also spotted the manly craze for luscious-looking eyes, reporting more male clients asking for both top and bottom lash extensions - most girls opt for just the top set - as well as LVL lash-straightening treatments.

Gents these days want subtle, instant beauty, so £12 for a set of falsies or £55 for month-long extensions is hardly a dent in the money pot.

Ladies, bag a space by the bathroom mirror before the lads get there first.

I just can't stand it, women want to be men and men want to be women, what a screwed up society we have become! I don't think anyone knows what they want any more.

Mickinlondon: if you had any knowledge of military history you would know that there have been many warrior peoples where the men have adorned themselves like peacocks with all sorts of paints and cosmetics. Having said that the idea of being confronted by a man wearing falsies (warrior or not) would be just as likely to kill me through laughter.

This is surely a joke article? The idea of man peeling off his false eyelashes like a pantomime dame is enough to give me the heeby jeebys . Ugh!

Men today are becoming a lot of Pansies.

Good luck girls, but watch your makeup bags if you marry a man with falses?
