Hot or Not: Is All Saints having a good season?

Owned by Kevin Stanford (who also holds a stake in Mulberry) this chain doesn't radically change from season to season: it knows what its customers like, and delivers it, regardless of which edicts issue from the catwalk.
I like this gutsy approach. If you like sludge-coloured clothes that look slightly off-kilter, as though chewed by a passing dog, then All Saints is for you. For summer, the chain has gone hell for leather, with quilted nappa biker jackets (£395), fringed waistcoats (£250) and soft, draped gilets (£295), plus a good selection of gladiators far superior to your average high street tat (from £49.99).
If you're looking for some easy festival buys, you might like the "Mad Paradise" T-shirt (£45) or the "Nightingale" dress (£95) with parachute skirt. Everything seems to come with a surfeit of fabric, an abundance of ruching or a couple of strings dangling off it: it's all a bit boho, but dirtier and more unkempt.
Some items, especially the basics, seem wildly expensive for what they are. Judging by the club-friendly nature of the clothes, All Saints' clientele is fairly young, but the prices seem prohibitive for its natural fanbase. Still, a strong season.
Staff: helpful and almost spookily friendly.
Changing rooms: Cubicles with flimsy curtains in the branch I visited.
Price: on the high side, especially for cotton basics, but the footwear is good value.
Quality: very good.
My pick: Finn flat sandal (£110).
