Here come the sign spinners

You won't have seen this troupe of Californian street performers before but they are coming to London.
The idea of sign spinning is to get people's attention by performing a variety of tricks with the signs and, once this is achieved, to interact with the audience, creating a highly effective one-on-one advertising experience.
Next Monday, for a week, "spinventor" Max Durovic and his team of spinners will promote the new XBox 360 game, Mortal Kombat (out 21 April) in a similar way.
"We saw roadside sign holders and we decided that if snowboarding and skateboarding were sports, we could do the same with signs," says Durovic, 27.
"People responded favourably because we were having a good time." He came up with the idea having launched his guerrilla marketing franchise, AArow (aarrowads.com) in 2002.
Durovic now employs 750 spinners (each has their own "spinstructor" who tries out new moves) and has launched in Paris and Korea, with Sydney next in line.
So can he get a good crowd in London? "Well it's pretty hard to ignore a two-metre sign flying through the air."
