Domaine de Belouvé Bandol Rosé 2008 (Tesco, £11.99). I know it's pricey but this is a beautiful Provençal rosé with the heft to stand up to grilled meat, as well as herby subtlety and elegance. From top Bandol producers Laurent and Pierre Bunan.

Koonunga Hill Seventy Six Shiraz Cabernet 2008, South Australia (Waitrose, reduced from £8.99 to £6.99 until 11 May). A dark, rich, smooth Aussie red (right), biggish but well balanced. Cries out for red meat.

Harrowgate Shiraz 2006, Gouldburn Valley (M&S, £8.99). Shiraz from central Victoria isn't as well known here as that from the Barossa valley and elsewhere in South Australia. It deserves to be: this is big, rich and deep, but fresh and juicy too.
