Greek odyssey
The Taste of Greece event at the Westfield shopping centre comes to a climax this weekend. Setting aside the merits of live performances of Mamma Mia! and the concept of "Greek Afternoon Tea", on March 25 and 26, from 1.30pm-2pm, Greek celebrity chefs Christofourous Peskias and Stelios Parliaros will demonstrate the dishes that have made their restaurants famous (Parliaros is a noted patissier). There will also be plenty of Greek food to sample. Entrance is free. The Atrium, Westfield, W12. Further details from eugreeka.com
Gorilla in our midst
Just when you thought the cupcake craze was abating, shoe designer and cake baker Patrick Cox announces his limited edition "Gorilla" cakes. These are cupcakes made from banana sponge with green frosting (to represent leaves?) and topped with a dark chocolate gorilla. The cakes are available until the middle of April and cost £4 each. For each cake sold, £1 will be donated to the Aspinall Foundation to help with the conservation of gorillas in the wild. Cox Cookies & Cake, 13 Brewer Street, W1 (020 7434 0242, coxcookiesandcake.com)
Market Forces
The Duke of York Square Speciality Food Market at the Sloane Square end of King's Road goes from strength to strength. Open each Saturday between 9am and 4pm, it's a good venue for a weekend shop, particularly as Partridges Foodhall is on hand to fill in any gaps. Regular stallholders include fresh fruit and vegetables from chefs' favourite Secretts Farm, British cheeses from Neal's Yard, pies from Pieminister - check out its Royal Wedding special, the "Kate and Wills" pie, available until the end of April. There's also meat from Woodwards Farm or Portuguese specialities from Rainha Santa. secretts.co.uk; pieminister.co.uk; woodwardsfarm.com;. Partridges 2-5 Duke of York Sq, SW3, partridges.co.uk
