The second concert, on Saturday, offers Szymanowski's First Violin Concerto and Bruckner's sublime Seventh Symphony. (020 7589 8212). Fri 1 Sep, 7.30pm; Sat 2 Sep, 6.30pm.

Proms: Philadelphia Orchestra

The Bruckner Symphony No. 7 under Rattle was an atrocity. It had me reaching (almost literally) for a 40 year old Karajan version with the VPO and my faith in the composer was restored. The BPO must have fallen on hard times to employ this dreadful conductor. He would be better off confining himself to advertising cosmetics.
