Jools auctions off his piano

This is London
12 Sep 2006

Musician and TV presenter Jools Holland is to show off his beloved piano before putting it under the hammer in London.

Holland, 48, has played the instrument while accompanying names like Sir Tom Jones, Sir Paul McCartney and Eric Clapton.

All proceeds from the sale are going to the Drake Music Project, of which the Later...with Jools Holland presenter is patron.

Holland has also played on the Yamaha GT7 while accompanying Van Morrison, Mick Hucknall, Sting, Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher, and has toured with the piano for the last five to six years.

The Drake Music Project was set up in 1988 to enable disabled children and adults who cannot play conventional instruments to discover their musical abilities.

Holland said: "I would like to congratulate anybody who buys this piano.

"You will be contributing to The Drake Music Project. I have seen first-hand the brilliant work they do bringing music technology to disabled musicians."

The auction takes place on October 2 and a photocall was being held at Bonhams in New Bond Street.
