The Scissor Sisters play their big Wembley gig this weekend, plus Primal Scream will be offering some derivative rocking and rolling and George Michael brings his tour to town...
Scissor Sisters
Wembley Arena
The British public is still very much in love with the Scissor Sisters. Second album Ta Dah! continues to ride high in the charts and this year the technicolour New Yorkers have already played Trafalgar Square and a fancy-dress show in Brixton. Now they'll prove they have the star quality to be genuine arena fillers.
(0870 060 0870). Tonight, Sat 25 and Sun 26 Nov, 6.30 pm.
Primal Scream
Apollo Hammersmith, W6
Primal Scream are fun again, ditching the dark electronica on latest album Riot City Blues in favour of derivative rocking and rolling that could have been assembled from a Rolling Stones fridge poetry set. It's unchallenging stuff, but no less enjoyable for that.
(0870 400 0700). Tonight, 7.30pm.
George Michael
Earls Court, SW5
The long-awaited live return of one of our biggest stars, assuming he's not too stoned to find the stage. Incredibly, this is his first tour for 15 years, so expect his fans to be appropriately hysterical despite their advancing years.
(0870 903 9033). Sat 25, Sun 26, Tue 28, Wed 29 Nov, 7pm.
Insomniacs Ball 2
SeOne, SE1
The indie rock never ends at this all-night disco party, at least not until 6am on Sunday. An extensive line-up over five rooms includes up-and-comers Blood Red Shoes and Dead Disco, arty electro poppers White Rose Movement and geeky guitar band the Young Knives. The folk from independent label Modular Recordings host a room of their own, and there are also DJ sets from the likes of Eddy Temple-Morris and Jagz Kooner.
(020 7407 1617). Sat 25 Nov, 7.30pm
The Killers
Brixton Academy, SW9
Three relatively intimate shows for the Las Vegas globe conquerors, before they return for two nights at Wembley in February. Recent second album Sam's Town takes itself rather too seriously, but the band's new sound is certainly big enough to fill out the largest venues.
(0870 771 2000). Sun 26-Tue 28 Nov, 6pm.
