Singalong to Christmas
Evening Standard 15.12.06It isn't just Status Quo who are rockin' all over Christmas: The Pogues, Iron Maiden, Snow Patrol and Kasabian are also doing their Yuletide stuff.
SINGALONG TO CHRISTMAS
The Pogues, Brixton Academy
Regular Christmas jaunt for the reformed Irish rogues, who will no doubt be airing festive classic Fairytale of New York at another rowdy show (17-19 December, 0870 771 2000).
Snow Patrol, Wembley Arena
Latest album Eyes Open looks like becoming even bigger than 2004's massively popular Final Straw, with the single Chasing Cars in particular proving that the Northern Irish band haven't run out of epic, weepy ballads (18-19 December, 0870 060 0870).
Kasabian, Earls Court
Brash, blunt and with egos the size of the venues they are playing these days, Kasabian have added a touch of psychedelia to their electro-rock sound, but their fans will still take most pleasure in the simple singalongs (19 December, 0870 903 9033).
Iron Maiden, Earls Court
Bruce Dickinson and chums have been concentrating on playing their earliest work of late, although latest album A Matter of Life and Death has also done well for them (22-23 December, 0870 903 9033).
Afternoon:
14°c

With a single dessert and just two glasses of wine our bill was kept in check - but the effort of doing so was not much fun
