Club NME
Koko, N1
Those mischievous indie kids waste no time in kicking off their guitar-based antics this year, with the usual blend of DJs and bands. Playing to a clued-up, tight-trousered, pencil-necked crowd, tonight's live acts include the increasingly hyped Dustin's Bar Mitzvah and The Ripps. (0870 432 5527). Tonight, 9.30pm-4am.
Breakin' Bread
The Social, W1
Here's a mouth-watering free hip-hop party that starts before most people clock off. The Breakin' Bread collective are known for creating a friendly, inclusive vibe that involves off-the-cuff DJ-ing, rapping and breakdancing. The only drawback? It's a tiny venue; so if you fancy it, try to sneak away from work early. (020 7636 4992). Tonight, 5pm-1am.
Neu_Noise
333, EC1
The spelling and punctuation of this new East End party should tell you something about the alternative atmosphere you can expect. The Paddingtons DJ at a cool, eclectic hotchpotch of indie, disco and rave, alongside Team Megamix and K-Tron. There's also a live appearance from Ebony Bones. (020 7739 5949). Sat 6 Jan, 10pm-5am.
Pacha's 5th Birthday
Pacha, SW1
The London incarnation of the legendary Ibiza club celebrates five years in Victoria with a major bash and a high-quality, credible line-up. Tim Sheridan, who, like the club, has found disco glory in Ibiza, takes over the main room with an energetic mix of deep, electro-flavoured house. He's backed up by the funkier sound of the Soul Avengerz. Sat 6 Jan, 9pm-5am
Trash
The End, WC2
I wouldn't normally suggest anything as foolish as going clubbing on a Monday night, but in this case, it may well be worth letting yourself in for feelings of fatigue and self-loathing that could quite possibly plague you until next weekend. After ten years of innovative, influential combinations of guitar music, house and electro, Trash celebrates its swan song tonight. Residents Erol Alkan and Jonjo preside. (020 7419 9199). Mon 8 Jan, 10pm-3am.
Afternoon:
14°c

An awesome and ridiculous film that leaves you thrilled beyond the point of your natural endurance
