Together celebrates its first birthday, the Trojan Soundsystem goes head-to-head with Guilty Pleasures and Feeling Gloomy celebrates the miserable side of life...

Together
Turnmills, EC1
The monthly that has been remarkably successful in fusing the spirit of childish party japery with a finger-on-the-pulse music policy celebrates its first birthday. As has become the custom for this scarily well-connected night, bands like The Klaxons join the DJ line-up which includes Fischerspooner, John Aquaviva, Touche and Justin Robertson. Live music comes from The Horrors and The Brakes. (020 7250 3409). Sat 27 Jan, 10pm-7am.

Trojan Soundsystem vs Guilty Pleasures
Cargo, EC2
With a special knack of picking reggae music that satisfies purists as well as drawing in newcomers, the Trojan Soundsystem have a well deserved reputation for spreading blissful party vibes. And so do the hugely successful Guilty Pleasures team, with their knack of breathing new life into cheesey old tuneage. Who will prevail in this head to head? (020 7739 3440). Tonight, 8pm-3am.

House Proud
Proud Galleries, Camden, NW1
Some of the East End's most underground disc jockeys decamp to Camden for the opening night of this too-cool-for school party. I can reveal that this rather lovely venue will pulsate to the sounds of electro, indie rock and a bit of techno, but there's no point in my listing the twenty or so DJs because you won't have heard of them – yet. (020 7482 3867). Tonight, 8pm-3am.

Feeling Gloomy presents Live Gloom
Bar Academy, N1
Like many of other events, the club that celebrates the miserable side of life has now added a live element to its ironically glum formula. As well as an amusingly sad selection of records, tonight features "cabaret noir" from Picturebox, rock from The Firm and a performance from in-house air guitarists, The Miserabilists. (020 7288 4400). Sat 27 Jan, 10pm-4am.

As One
The End, WC1A
Some of the dance scene's most accessible and respected party-mongers appear tonight, with the lion's share of DJ-ing time being occupied by Tim Deluxe. Jon Carter also appears, alongside the techno/hard house sound of Sebastian Ingrosso. XFM's Eddy Temple-Morris does his eclectic thing in the Lounge and the excellent Sancho Pancha soundsystem bring their happy acid house vibes to the AKA bar. (020 7419 9199). Sat 27 Jan, 10pm-7am.
