            Amy Winehouse

A lot of bottle: Amy Winehouse pictured yesterday morning in Tesco, Camden

            Empire

Axed: fans at Empire last night found the gig had been postponed

Here is a picture of Amy Winehouse buying booze in a north London supermarket at 11 in the morning - and here is a picture of her performing at a gig later the same day.

What? Oh, sorry, there is no picture of her performing at the Shepherd's Bush Empire - chiefly on account of the fact that she did not show up.

The two events are, of course, completely unrelated.

The Brit awardwinning singer cancelled the show saying she was ill - obviously one of those nasty bugs where you are fit and well and chatting away on your mobile in Camden Tesco one moment, completely laid out the next. A sign posted on the doors of the venue said the show had been postponed due to "unforeseen circumstances".

A statement on her website apologised to her fans due to the "unavoidable situation". The show has been rescheduled for Monday, 16 April.

Alcohol, and its effect on Ms Winehouse's performance, has been a long-running theme in her career to date.

In January, she pulled out of a live concert at London's G-A-Y when she vomited on stage after singing just one of her songs.

In a now legendary appearance on the Charlotte Church show last October, she smashed her foot into a glass table and slurred her way through Michael Jackson's Beat It while singing with the programme's bemused hostess.

At the Q magazine awards last year, she heckled Bono during his acceptance speech with a four-letter tirade of abuse.

* Radio One DJ Tim Westwood has been banned from playing at the Ministry of Sound because of safety fears.

He was due to play at the club in Elephant and Castle in front of guests including hip-hop artist Jay-Z and Beyoncè Knowles. Police stopped the non-ticketed event after fears it would get out of control. The move follows a spate of shootings outside clubs in the borough.
