Kate hits duff note writing for Shambles

Pete Doherty has had a series of furious bust-ups with his Babyshambles bandmates over girlfriend Kate Moss.

The band are raging that Pete has started writing the new album with Kate and not the band. They're of the opinion that she's just a model and shouldn't be writing their songs. The rift has become so serious the rest of Babyshambles refused to go to the NME awards, despite the fact they were up for two gongs, because both Pete and Kate were going.

Instead Adam Ficek, Drew McConnell and Mick Whitnall are planning to go to a country retreat to begin writing the album themselves.

London Lite was told: "Pete has really pushed the other guys' buttons this time. They've had enough of his obsession with Kate. He keeps calling her his 'muse' and she says he's her 'inspiration'. The band don't mind Kate getting up on stage and performing with them the odd time, but writing the album with them is different."

Supermodel Kate, 33, is also helping Pete, 27, write his new book, which is being published by Orion and will be out on 30 May.

The book is a a combination of journals, notebooks, poetry and sketches. Many of the sketches are of Kate and she has contributed sketches of Pete. Pete and Kate have been reading Wordsworth and Emily Dickinson to get inspiration for the new album, which will be released by Parlophone before Christmas.

A pal said: "They are both very excited by the work they've done together so far and spend most weekends at Kate's Cotswolds home writing lyrics together. They go on long walks in the country so they can clear their heads, and often Kate has an idea or comes up with a line and they scribble it down. Kate is mainly helping Pete with the lyrics, though she's also trying to help with some of the melodies.

"She keeps saying that modelling is just visual and she is really enjoying using her mind and discovering how to be a poet. She has found the whole experience of being creative with Pete incredibly inspirational. She thinks he's a brilliant genius of our age."

Let's hope the band get over the rift soon so we can hear this " brilliant genius" in action.

Except they aren't sixthformers. And they have been in love for a long time. To add, Doherty is a poet. Not a wannabe.

Pathetic. Sounds just like the kind of namby-pamby disneyland first love antics the most fey of sixth formers get up to. These pair need a sound kick up the exhaust and to appear less in public and the press.
