Robbie up for songwriting award
24.05.07Robbie Williams, Amy Winehouse and Arctic Monkeys are among the contenders at the Ivor Novello Awards today. Williams could find himself the recipient of an award for his critically panned single Rudebox.
The song has been nominated for International Hit of the Year alongside Sorry by Madonna and the Scissor Sisters hit I Don't Feel Like Dancin'.
A win would provide Williams with some welcome good news after a year which has seen him admitted to rehab to battle his addiction to prescription drugs.
The Ivor Novellos recognise songwriting talent rather than performance. Williams co-wrote the Rudebox single.
Amy Winehouse has been nominated for Best Contemporary Song for Rehab, which she penned herself.
She competes in the category against Hot Chip's Over and Over and Yeah Yeah, performed by Bodyrox Ft Luciana.
Arctic Monkeys' hit song When the Sun Goes Down is nominated for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.
Casino Royale has been nominated for Best Original Film Score, while Hotel Babylon is a contender for Best TV Soundtrack.
The 52nd Ivor Novellos will be held at The Grosvenor House hotel in central London.
