Beach Boy Brian Wilson is coming to London to perform a new work commissioned by the Southbank Centre.
He told the Standard he saw the venue as his "spiritual home away from home" because of the audience response.
Wilson played the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds at the Royal Festival Hall in 2002 and gave the live premiere of Smile there in 2004.
He teamed up with Smile lyricist Van Dyke Parks for his new project. "It's shaping up to be better than Smile," said the 65-year-old singer.
He is also promises to play classics including Good Vibrations and California Girls, plus songs never before performed live, such as his version of the Beatles' She's Leaving Home. "It's one of my wife Melinda's favourites," he said.
• Brian Wilson performs at the Royal Festival Hall from 10 to 16 September.
