The lowdown on the best live music in London this weekend...

IRON & WINE
Where: The Forum
When: Friday, May 16
Tickets: £15
www.ironandwine.com
Iron & Wine is the stage and recording name of folk rock singer/songwriter, Samuel Beam. The phrase is taken from a dietary supplement named "Beef Iron & Wine" that he found in a supermarket while shooting a film. Silly names aside, Beam is a magnificent singer. His soothing vocals satisfy the eardrums effortlessly. Expect an atmospheric ambience.

GIRLS ALOUD
Where: The O2
When: Fri, May 16 & Sat, May 17
Tickets: £27
www.girlsaloud.co.uk
Since forming on ITV1 talent show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002, Girls Aloud have proved that they weren't just a TV fad. They have a wealth of Top 10 singles in the (designer) bag and an ever-devoted fanbase. Their show is likely to be as much about their outfits as the music but if you fancy a singalong to some catchy numbers this will be a fun night out.

PENDULUM
Where: Carling Academy Brixton (Sat)/ Astoria (Sun)
When: Sat, May 17 & Sun, May 18
Tickets: £17.50
www.pendulum.com
Rob Swire, Gareth McGrillen, Perry ap Gwynedd, Ben Mount (MC Verse), Paul Harding, and Paul Kodish (live drums) make up drum n bass group, Pendulum. With a new album just released the live show should offer a fresh take on their usual heavy beats and low bassline. This is club music with the energy of live performance. Buzzing.

ZUCCHERO
Where: Royal Albert Hall
When: Sunday, May 18
Tickets: £25-£30
www.zucchero.uk.com
Italian singer Zucchero is largely influenced by gospel, blues and rock music. His set can incorporate anything from ballads to more rhythmic tracks. He has collaborated with the likes of Joe Cocker, Eric Clapton and Miles Davis; an impressive line-up for an equally impressive performer.

ROGER WATERS
Where: The O2
When: Sunday, May 18
Tickets: £45-£55
www.roger-waters.com
Pink Floyd's Roger Waters has had a career that most rock stars would envy. Credited as as the band's main songwriter (after the departure of Syd Barrett), bass player and one of their lead vocalists he is no stranger to the music industry. Playing solo at the O2 Arena, this should be an entertaining show.
