Carl Barat set up Dirty Pretty Things following the break-up of his and Pete Doherty's band, The Libertines. Although not as successful as his former group, it has done well with debut album Waterloo To Anywhere reaching number three in the charts and the follow-up Romance At Short Notice soon to be released. This set will feature a mix of both records.

He first came to our attention thanks to TV show One Tree Hill – with his song I Don't Want To Be providing the soundtrack. Now on his second album, Gavin Degraw showcases his real talent in his live shows and counts Kris Kristofferson as a fan. This will be a performance with soul.
MAXIMO PARK

Tickets: £20 - £50
www.maximopark.com
One of the more high-profile indie rock bands, Tyne and Wear five-piece Maximo Park give it their all live. Songs like Our Velociy and Apply Some Pressure are usual favourites. Paul Smith is a strong frontman and his unusual dance moves add an eccentric edge to his shows.
THE BLACK KEYS
Where: Astoria
When: Thursday, May 29
Tickets: £17
www.theblackkeys.com
The Black Keys are a blues-rock duo from Akron, Ohio. Often compared to the White Stripes, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney are well-respected musicians who have made it big in America and are bringing their talent to the UK.
ARMY OF YOU
Where: Scala
When: Thursday, May 29
Tickets: £10
www.warchildmusic.com
Bringing together some of the most exciting names across the UK's new music scene, this year's Army of You will be headlined by Does It Offend You Yeah? with additional live performances from Rumblestrips, Kid Harpoon, Autokratz, and Edward J Hicks. The live acts will be supported by special DJ sets from the likes of Hot Chip. It's all in aid of a good cause too; raising awareness of and funds for child protection agency War Child.
