The lowdown on the best live music in London this week...

THE DODOS
Where: 100 club
When: Tuesday
Tickets: £8
www.dodosmusic.net
The excellent San Francisco psychedelic folk band promise an evening of upbeat tunes and haunting lyrics. Frontman Meric Long is a sweet-voiced singer and delicate guitarist, while drummer Logan Kroemmer provides the thumping beats that drive the tracks. Their debut album, Beware of the Maniacs (2006) comparisons to Nick Drake and Akron/Family - and tonight they'll be playing from their even betterreceived second album, Visiter, with tracks varying from the melodic Joe's Waltz to the reeling It's That Time Again.

LENNY KRAVITZ
Where: Carling Academy, Brixton
When: Wednesday
Tickets: £35
www.lennykravitz.com
He won the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance four years in a row from 1999 to 2002 so expect a great performance from Lenny Kravitz. The stylish rock star will take over Brixton Academy on Wednesday so don't miss your chance to see him do what he does best in the capital.

KINGS OF LEON
Where: Carling Academy, Brixton
When: Thursday
Tickets: £27.50
www.kingsofleon.com
Blending blues, soul and rock into a delectable package, Kings of Leon are one of the better live acts. The three brothers and first cousin hail from Tennessee and Oklahoma and draw from music they listened to growing up. Last year saw them undergo a newly-shaven image and release third album, Because of the Times; a triumph. Next month Only By The Night will be on sale. Here's hoping they give us an insight into what we can expect from it in their Brixton gig.

MULGREW MILLER TRIO
Where: Ronnie Scott's
When: Tuesday & Wednesday
Tickets: £20-£36
www.mulgrewmiller.com
Mulgrew Miller is one of the most active pianists of his generation, having appeared on over four hundred recordings as sideman and leader. Starting off by performing gospel blues and R&B at local dances and churches in his Mississippi homeland, a young Miller was steadily drawn into jazz, citing Oscar Peterson as an early influence. Decades on and he brings his music to Ronnie Scott's.
