Barry Manilow headlines BBC Proms in Park
8 Jun 2009Barry Manilow is to perform at the BBC Proms in the Park concert, it was announced today - his only UK date this year.
The Copacabana crooner will perform in London's Hyde Park along with Welsh soprano Katherine Jenkins on September 12.
The gig coincides with the traditional Last Night of the Proms show, and will culminate in a live video link-up with the Royal Albert Hall to allow promenaders to join in with old favourites like Jerusalem and Rule Britannia.
Manilow fans unable to make the Hyde Park show will be able to watch the performance on the BBC via the red button and listen to it on Radio 2.
Bob Shennan, BBC Radio 2 controller, said: "Everyone at Radio 2 is delighted that Barry Manilow will headline BBC Proms in the Park in September.
"Barry Manilow is one of the giants of world showbusiness and the fans in the park and our Radio 2 listeners are in for a treat."
