Gigs of the week: Dawn Landes

Sweetheart: Dawn Landes plays two gigs next week

Vetiver, Beach House
A double header of dreamy indie folk from two of the finest American bands on the Bella Union, also home to Fleet Foxes. Their gentle sounds will be well suited to this exquisite venue.
Tonight, Union Chapel, N1 (0870 264 3333) www.unionchapel.org.uk.

Sliimy
Prior to a couple of support slots with Katy Perry, the oddly named French singer plays his first London headline gig and shows why he's worthy of being the first signing to celebrity gossip hound Perez Hilton's new record label.
Mon 24 Aug, Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen, N1 (020 7419 4696). www.plummusic.com.

Dawn Landes
Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter with a beautiful, understated voice, gearing up for next month's release of third album, Sweetheart Rodeo.
Mon 24 Aug, Water Rats Theatre, WC1 (020 7336 7326). www.themonto.com. Tue 25 Aug, Windmill, SW2 (020 8671 0700). www.windmillbrixton.co.uk.

Wilco
One of a handful of bands with a claim to the title of “the American Radiohead”, experimental alt.country sextet Wilco's recent seventh album has been typically well received. Expect to hear highlights, as well as tracks from their classic Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, at this one-off show.
Tue 25 Aug, Troxy, E1 (020 7334 3922). www.troxy-events.co.uk.

The Hot Rats
A low-key chance to catch this quirky side-project from Gaz Coombes and Danny Goffey of Supergrass, essentially a vehicle for the pair to play their favourite covers. They're likely to play Big Sky by The Kinks, The Beatles' Drive My Car and The Sex Pistols' EMI among others.
Wed 26 Aug, Old Blue Last, EC2 (020 7739 7033). www.theoldbluelast.com.
